HP Teachers Submit Final Report

The HP grant teachers submitted their final report to ISTE and the HP Grant Program wrapping up a year-long project in which new technology was integrated into the teaching of the Saugus Iron Works unit at the Ferryway school. Congratulations to Mrs. Girard, Ms. Perna, Mr Teixeira, Mrs. Tomadakis, Mrs. Murphy who were led by Team leader, Margaret Briatico. Also thanks to administrators Robert Simpson, the Teacher Learning Center Director and Principal DeVito for their support and guidance. One interesting product from our collaboration was the creation of a multimedia parent page. Take a virtual tour to see exciting new technology tools like digital cameras and tablet computers in action...and even hear what our students are saying about their learning!

SIW Parent Page Launched

We are pleased to announce the launch of the first mulitlingual SIW parent page. The SIW parent page was produced by Ferryway teachers working on the HP Technology for Teaching grant. The page's purpose is to increase parental involvement with their children in using home computers and the Internet, i.e. with an emphasis on the SIW PBU. Our baseline survey of 97 Ferryway fifth graders indicates that 90% of students have a computer at home and 86% visit websites. We are also excited that Dr. Connolly brought a CD-ROM version of the presentation to China on her recent trip. Enjoy!

Available languages: English and Mandarin Chinese
Thanks go out to Carol Cheung and Margie Briatico for the Chinese version and to Margie and Paul Teixeira for the English version.
