Malden Awarded Target Field Trip Grant

We are pleased to announce that Target Corporation has awarded Malden Public Schools a Field Trip grant to support the implementation of the Saugus Iron Works PBU in the fifth grade. Target is giving away approximately 1600 grants of up to $1000.00 each to support innovative field trip experiences for students. Science teacher, Mrs. Briatico collaboratively developed the proposal with Pat Fish and Robert Simpson in October 2007. We are very excited that this grant coincides with the reopening of the SIW in April 2008. Students will visit the newly remodeled museum, reconstructed blast furnace and rolling and slitting mill and view new educational exhibits. Historic site improvements also include new walkways to increase accessibility.
