Water - Three States of Matter

Purpose:
Students will discover water exists in three states of matter.

Objective:
Students will explore water and its three states of matter.

Introduction:
Talk about what water is made up of- two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen.
Ask students: What are the three states of water?

Lesson Plan

State Standards:

10.Describe how water on earth cycles in different forms and in different locations, including underground and in the atmosphere.

Essential Question:

What are the components of the water cycle ?

Lesson Question:

How can we create a video teaching others about the water cycle?

Introduction:

We will list each part of the water cycle on a poster. Students will be assigned to a section/part of the cycle and will be asked to record the information learned about each part. Students will also include visuals on their posters.

Task:

Students will work together to write/produce a creative work-video(water cyle rap song) to demonstrate their knowledge of the water cycle.

Lesson Experiences:

Process:

Conclusion:

Students will view the video and evaluate themselves-make changes if necessary .

Assessments:

Students will be assessed using a teacher/student designed rubric.
